How to Apply to Ghana School for Law Professional Law Course 2020/2021
The General Legal Council has opened applications from qualified individuals for admission to the Ghana School of Law Professional Law Course Program for the 2020/2021 academic year.
A public notice signed by the Chairman of the Independent Examining Board has declared that all applicants who meet the criteria (below), at the time of application, are eligible.
The deadline for submitting application forms is July 10, 2020.
The review to be conducted by the Independent Examinations Committee of the General Legal Council (Council) will take place at a date, time and location to be communicated to qualified candidates at a later date.
ENTRY EXAM DETAILS
The exam is a two-hour test and consists of two sections:
Section A ‘consists of 20 (multiple choice questions), covering six (6) of the ten (10) core subjects required before admission to the Ghana School of Law. To know:
a) Contract law
b) Law of misdemeanors
C) Criminal law
d) Real estate law
e) Ghanaian constitutional law
f) Ghanaian legal system and methods
Section âBâ will consist of two essay or problem questions, based on one of the six (6) topics listed above. Applicants will be required to answer both questions.
ELIGIBILITY
The people eligible for the admission exam are:
a. Individuals who have obtained a Bachelor of Laws certificate or final year LLB students awaiting their final results from the Faculty of Law of Universities in Ghana accredited by the National Accreditation Council and approved by the Legal Council general (GLC); and
b. Ghanaian holders of Bachelor of Laws certificates or equivalent law degrees from universities in the United Kingdom, Canada, United States of America and other common law jurisdictions and who have obtained laissez-passer in all the following prescribed subjects:
1. Contract law
2. Law of misdemeanors
3. Criminal law
4. Real estate law
5. Ghanaian constitutional law
6. Ghanaian legal system and methods
7. Equity and succession
8. Company law
9. Commercial law
10. One of the following:
(a) Law on Natural Resources (b) Law on Taxation (c) Law on Intellectual Property (d) Law on Environment; and (e) Labor law

ADMISSION PROCEDURE
The admission procedure is as follows:
(i) The General Legal Council determines the number of candidates admitted to the Professional Law Course.
(ii) A candidate may be admitted if he has passed the written examination organized by the General Legal Council for admission to the 2020/2021 academic year, upon payment of the required fees and presentation of the application form and all required supporting documents. in line.
(iii) Eligible applicants who achieve the minimum score set by the General Legal Council will be offered admission for the 2020/2021 academic year to take the Professional Law course.
6. The application should be made by completing the Entrance Examination Registration Forms electronically on the Ghana School of Law website. A bank project for four hundred and fifty Ghanaian cedis (GHC 450.00) should be made payable to BOARD OF LEGAL EDUCATION to enable applicants to obtain PINs to complete online application forms. The bank draft must be presented to the Accounts Office of the Ghana School of Law.
7. Applicants should complete the online school application form with the following documents attached:
a. Completed Declaration, Undertaking and Witness forms.
b. A recently taken passport-sized photograph of the applicant must be scanned and uploaded to the online application form.
vs. Certified copy of the LLB certificate.
D. Certified copy of the FINAL LLB transcript.
e. Copies of other relevant academic certificates and transcripts.
F. Academic reference of LLB awarding the University.
g. Character reference of a lawyer of at least 10 years at the Ghana Bar.
h. Two photocopies of a valid national identity document in the form of a passport, voter card, driver’s license or national identity card. (The original will be returned to the applicant after registration.)
I. Admitted students will be required to produce a police certificate.
8. All registered candidates will be given index numbers for examination by the General Legal Council.
9. The decision of the General Legal Council on the published results of the Entrance Examination is final.
