The California Department of Justice maintains the Megan Law website to improve community safety by posting photos and legally publishable information (including in some cases specific mailing addresses) of people who have been identified. guilty of certain designated sex offenses.

Palo Alto Police Department detectives regularly meet with registered sex offenders, as required by law, and upload up-to-date information about them to the California Sex and Arson Registry. This repository of information, in turn, informs Megan’s Law website. In accordance with article 290.46 of the Penal Code, not all registered sex offenders have their information publicly disclosed on the website; however, these offenders are still required to meet with law enforcement on a regular basis, and law enforcement knows where they are.

We would like to remind everyone that it is illegal to use information from the website to commit a crime against a registered sex offender.

Megan’s Law website contains the most recent information available for public release. The Palo Alto Police Department does not have any additional information available for publication on any registered sex offender listed on the website. If you have any questions or concerns regarding registered sex offenders residing in Palo Alto, you can call our Detective Office at (650) 329-2597.
